POSITION SUMMARY:
Educate patients about OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) and it’s risks; Educate patients regarding CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) Therapy as the treatment of choice; Set up patients on CPAP, APAP, BIPAP and monitor compliance; Order and request authorization for CPAP supplies; Organize support group meeting- AWAKE every quarter; Perform mask fittings prior to patients sleep study.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
(1) High school diploma or equivalent, (2) RRT by NBRC or CRT with 18 months acute care experience, or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or Registry eligible Polysomnographic Technologist with minimum experience of 18 months; Knowledge of different CPAP, APAP, BIPAP units.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
(1) BLS-C (2) RPsgT preferred
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of medical terminology. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Must be able to work with patients and families. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear and speak. Manual dexterity to operate electrical monitoring equipment.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Majority of work is performed indoors protected from the elements but not necessarily from temperature extremes. May be exposed to dust, noise, electrical hazards and vibrations.
PATIENTS SERVED:
This position is responsible for age-related physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the following age groups of patients: Adult, and geriatric.
