Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides radiation therapy using high-energy radiation equipment under the direction of a radiation oncologist.

     

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

(1) Associate Degree from an AMA-approved radiation oncology-training program,  (2) Minimum three years of radiation oncology experience with specialized training in dosimetric techniques and physics of treatment planning.

 

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

(1) ARRT in Radiotherapy, (2) California Certification in Radiotherapy Technology, (3) Fluoroscopy Certified, (4) BLS-C.

 

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.  Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.  Must be fluent in spoken and written English.  Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

 

PHYSICAL JOB CLASSIFICATION:

Medium work

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to move about well including reaching, bending, kneeling, lifting or crouching.  Prolonged periods of standing and walking.  Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs. or more.  Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.  Subject to many interruptions.  Manual dexterity to use computer keyboard.  Essential communication skills requiring the ability to hear and speak and have accurate visual acuity.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Exposure to radiation and hazardous chemicals. May be exposed to: Dust, Fumes (Human Waste), Body Fluids, Heat, Cold, Noise, and Vibrations. Majority of the work is performed indoors protected from the elements.

 


 

 

PATIENTS SERVED:

This position is responsible for age-related physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the following age groups of patients: Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.  Includes, but not limited to:  Vital signs, medication dosages, physiological changes, and psychosocial needs.
