POSITION SUMMARY:
Has one campus, 24-hour responsibility for management and operation of the Department of Surgical Services – Operating rooms; Anesthesia; PACU; Pre-Admissions/Same Day Surgery; Ambulatory; GI Lab and Sterile Processing.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
(1) Previous management experience in a Perioperative setting.
Desired:
(1) MS in Nursing or a related field.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Fluent in written and spoken English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent heavy lifting. Must be able to stand and walk without assistance for long periods during the workday. Requires full use of all large and small muscle groups for frequent bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to: Dust, Fumes (Human Waste), Body Fluids, Heat, Cold, Noise, Vibrations, and Toxic Chemicals (Chemotherapy agents). Majority of the work is performed indoors protected from the elements.
PATIENTS SERVED:
Knowledge of differences in surgical care requirements for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients including surgical instrumentation, growth/development, medication dosages and psychosocial needs.
