Dept: 3rd Floor - Medical Overflow Unit
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the medical surgical units. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
(1) Minimum one year previous acute care medical-surgical experience, (2) Previous experience in the management of post-operation patients.
Desired:
(1) Previous charge nurse experience.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
(1) Current California RN license, (2) BLS-C.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent heavy lifting. Must be able to stand and walk without assistance for long periods during the workday. Requires full use of all large and small muscle groups for frequent bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping. Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to: Dust, Fumes (Human Waste), Human Bodily Fluids, Heat, Cold, Noise, Vibrations, Toxic Chemicals (Chemotherapy agents). Majority of the work is performed indoors protected from the elements.
PATIENTS SERVED:
This position is responsible for age-related physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the following age groups of patients: Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Includes, but not limited to: Vital signs, medication dosages, physiological changes, and psychosocial needs.
