POSITION SUMMARY:
The Critical Care Nurse Educator, under the direction of the Director – Nursing Education is responsible for the orientation and competency validation of staff assigned to critical care units (ED, MICU, SICU, Dialysis) OR, PACU, Same Day Surgery, Cath Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Noninvasive Cardiology. The Critical Care Nurse Educator is responsible for novice and new graduate critical care nurse training programs as well as staff development. The Critical Care Nurse Educator will assume responsibility for ACLS certification program and obtain ACLS instructor status. The Critical Care Nurse Educator will act as a consultant on clinical issues related to patient care.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
(1) BSN, (2) Three-five years recent acute care nursing experience.
Desired:
(1) Masters in Nursing or a related field
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
(1) Current California RN license
(2) BLS-C
(3) ACLS
(4) ACLS Instructor status within 6 months of appointment
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Numerical ability to review and report statistical data. Strong writing and oral presentation skills; mental ability to organize and set priorities. Computer literacy with knowledge of word processing software preferred. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

This position is responsible for the knowledge of nursing care differences between pediatric and geriatric patients.
