POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, provides direct physical care to patients encompassing the activities of daily living. Performs specific nursing procedures relevant to the nursing assistant scope of practice. Is authorized to transport medications and IV solutions from the pharmacy department to all patient care areas of the Hospital.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
(1) Passage of an approved Certified Nurse Attendant training program
Desired:
(1) One year recent acute care Certified Nurse Attendant experience.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
(1) Current California CNA certificate, (2) BLS-C.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak. Fluent in written and spoken English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires continuous heavy lifting. Must be able to stand and walk without assistance for long periods during the workday. Requires full use of all large and small muscle groups for frequent bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to: Dust, Fumes (Human Waste), Human Body Fluids, Heat, Cold, Noise, Vibrations, and Toxic Chemicals (Chemotherapy agents). Majority of the work is performed indoors protected from the elements.
PATIENTS SERVED:
This position is responsible for age-related physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the following age groups of patients: Adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Includes, but not limited to: Vital signs, physiological changes, and psychosocial needs.
