POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides respiratory therapy to patients using established standards, policies and procedures. Provides education to family, patients and staff. Promotes guest relations.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
(1) A.S. degree from an approved Respiratory Therapy program.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
(1) Valid California RCP license, (2) BCLS.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear and speak. Requires the ability to stand or otherwise reach the level of a patient in a bed or on a gurney in order to provide therapy treatments. Requires sufficient upper body strength to effectively compress respiratory resuscitation bag during cardiac arrest situations.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Exposure to biological, chemical and electrical hazards along with fumes, dust, noise, vibrations, and temperature changes.
PATIENTS SERVED:
This position is responsible for the knowledge of differences in care requirements for infants, children and adults including medication dosages, anatomical characteristics and size related therapy equipment Required bi-annual re-certification in neonatal resuscitation.
