The Federal Bankruptcy Court approved the West Contra Costa Healthcare District's Plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection. Approval of the plan comes nearly two years after the Healthcare District, which operates Doctors Medical Center (DMC), filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection on October 1, 2006. The Plan is the product of lengthy negotiations with representatives of every major creditor group and the majority of its voting creditors who overwhelmingly accepted the terms of the Plan.
