Cancer Center Community Outreach
At the Regional Cancer Center, our mission is to improve the health of our community through cancer education and wellness screenings. Active outreach efforts enable us to screen for the early detection of cancer, educate about detection and stress the importance of prevention.
Physicians specializing in cancer and cancer related issues offer lectures periodically throughout the year, via the Community Education Program. Lectures cover a wide range of subjects, including screening, detection and treatment. These lectures offer the community an opportunity to learn more about their own cancer, or that of a loved one, as well as an opportunity to ask specific medical questions. It is our hope that, through increased education and awareness, members of our community will understand the importance of prevention, screening and early detection in inhibiting cancer.
As part of our commitment to quality cancer care, we also periodically provide free community screenings, including Men's Health Day (prostate screening), Women's Health Day (cervical/breast exams) and skin cancer screenings.
