Tumor Board

Tumor Board is a treatment planning approach in which physicians who are experts in specialties related to cancer and health professionals who are involved in the diagnosis and treatment process meet to discuss a patient’s case. The purpose of the gathering is to give the patient and their family an opportunity to meet with the clinicians to review and discuss the treatment plan. These meetings benefit patients by bringing together a variety of cancer specialists to consider the patient’s medical condition and treatment options. Tumor Board meetings include discussions concerning specific characteristics of tumors, the role of studies, and various treatment options.

Patients can request that the Tumor Board discuss their case. Tumor Boards are a free service provided by DMC Regional Cancer Center and are held every Wednesday in the Cancer Center. It is one more way that Doctors Medical Center assures quality patient care.
