Volunteer Service League
Who We Are
A vital part of the healthcare team here at Doctors Medical Center, the Service League is open to men, women, and teens from the local area. They might choose from a variety of areas of service, from direct patient contact to helping behind the scenes. Being a volunteer at Doctors Medical Center is rewarding not only for the volunteer, but also the patient's and staff.

Our Service League is committed to supporting the hospital's goal of maintaining our status as an excellent hospital, and are a part of the team 7 days a week. As a volunteer you will receive training, support, complimentary meals and satisfaction in knowing you are making a difference.
Our Accomplishments
In this last year alone, our Service League has donated over 28,000 hours of time, allowing us to provide such services and gifts as:
- $1,000 Scholarships to deserving students in the medical field
- The purchase of 24 additional wheelchairs
- $40,000 donation towards a Bone Densitometer for the J.C. Robinson Regional Cancer Center
- Monthly donations to the DMC Diabetic Clinic
- Assistance with a monthly Women’s Health Care Clinic, which offers mammograms and pelvic exams to low-income and uninsured women
- Assistance with monthly blood drives and blood pressure screenings
- Assistance with the quarterly Prostate Program, which offers prostate screenings to low-income and uninsured men
- Gift shops at the San Pablo and Pinole campuses, raising funds through the sale of necessary items and the handicrafts of volunteers
- Ensuring a positive hospital experience by greeting and directing visitors to the proper departments, and the delivery of patient mail and flowers
How to Become a Volunteer
Whatever your reason for volunteering, you will find it a very satisfying activity. Your contribution will be both needed and appreciated, and additionally, you will make great new friends!

* ALERT - Each year the Service League offers Carol Welch Memorial Scholarships to deserving students in the medical field. This year's submission deadline for applications is February 28, 2008. Find copies of the application online, or by calling the Service League office at 510-970-5334.
